K-5 Parent Updates 8-10-2016
Greetings I am Mr. Kariem the Technology teacher for grades K-5 at Wesley International Academy. This year the focus will be on building communication skills. This is through word documents, typing, coding, and building interactive presentations. 5th grade will also delve deeper into research skills for exhibition. Below is important content that you can access to stay abreast of your child's assignments in my class this year.
Here is a link for the curriculum map that I will be using for 3-5 Technology class this year. I will add K-2 within the next week!
Each Grade level has a "LiveBinder" that is updated weekly with assignments. You can Access these LiveBinders by clicking on the links Below. I use LiveBinder to organize their assignments and these links can be accessed from home.
4th and 5th graders have the ability, with your permission,to use Pandora to listen to music while they work on certain assignments in class. If you want them to have this permission click on the tab in their "Livebinder" called "Class Rules". Once you click there you will see a sub-tab containing the permission slip. Simply print and sign this document and have them bring it to me.

Google Rocks Like Girls do!
Today when I went to google I noticed a link below the search bar
that read:
I
clicked that link and was introduced to a website filled with wonderful and
inspiring content. And the kicker was that it is geared toward young ladies. I
teach at an international school whose focus is single gender classrooms and it
was by pure fate that I discovered this resource on a day that I have
all girls. Since its so close to a holiday i decided to put a pause
on their election poster creation lesson and allow them
the opportunity to explore the websites content. I really
am enjoying watching them look at other females who are using
technology to express their creativity!
I plan to observe this throughout the day and take notes. I am going to follow this website and find a way to create an effective and enriching lesson.
Thanks GOOGLE!
